BEIJING - Japan and North Korea clashed Tuesday over Pyongyang's weekend launch of two short-range ballistic missiles, at the outset of talks between senior officials from the two countries in Beijing.
Junichi Ihara, the head of Asian affairs at the Japanese Foreign Ministry, lodged a strong protest with the North Korean delegation over the launch, saying it was in breach of U.N. resolutions against the use of ballistic missile technology.
