Saturday, 15 August 2020_Bayern Munich have sent out an emphatic message to their Champions League rivals with an absolute demolition of Barcelona, humiliating the Catalans 8-2 in a glorious quarter-final tie in Lisbon.
The Bavarians needed only 4 minutes to start their firework thanks to a clinical finish by Thomas Muller. But parity was restored 3 minutes later when David Alaba scored an own goal. However, Bayern soon proved irresistible, scoring 3 goals in a span of 10 minutes; Ivan Perisic made it 2-1 in the 21st minute, Serge Gnabry got the 3rd, 6 minutes later and Muller completed his brace with a fine touch to give Bayern a 3-goal cushion in the 1st half.
Barca found some hope after the interval when Luis Suarez found the net in the 57th minute. But that hope didn't last long, as Joshua Kimmich finished off a swaggering move from Alphonso Davies to score the fifth, while a strike from top scorer Robert Lewandowski and two late goals from Philippe Coutinho, who is on loan from Barca, completed the rout.
Bayern who last won Europe's biggest prize in 2013 will meet either Manchester City or Lyon in the last four.
