Wednesday, 22 July 2020_The foreign ministers of Iran and Russia have sat for talks in Moscow to discuss mutual and international issues including the Iran nuclear deal.
Iran is satisfied with how Russia is helping to resist unconstructive steps towards Tehran , said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif before the start of talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.
Moscow believes that there is still chances of maintaining the Iranian nuclear deal.
Regarding the US proposed draft resolution on the extension of the arms embargo against Iran, which expires this fall, Moscow said that any attempts to make an indefinite arms embargo against Iran are illegitimate and such actions by the United States will not be successful.
Iranian Foreign Minister said that his 30th visit to Moscow has broken the record for the number of visits by Iranian foreign ministers to Russia. The dialogue between Iran and Russia is taking place at different levels regularly.
According to Zarif, good cooperation between Iran and Russia with the people of Syria led to the defeat of Daesh there. And even more so, Iran has never taken seriously the statements of the former US President's National Security Advisor John Bolton about Russia's attitude to Iran on the Syrian issue.
The ministers noted that it is necessary to formulate common approaches of the Islamic world to the key problems of current time and interaction between all Islamic countries. Such a combination of efforts of all Muslims and all interested external players is required not only in relation to the Syrian crisis, but also in relation to Yemen, Iraq, Libya and, of course, with regard to breaking the deadlock in the Middle East settlement
The state and prospects for the development of political dialogue, trade and economic ties, including the progress of large joint projects in the fields of energy, transport and agriculture were considered by ministers when discussing the bilateral ties. The Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that the line on building up trade and economic cooperation with Iran is being implemented despite US opposition and the illegitimate sanctions imposed by Washington.
