Araghchi: There is no Taliban’s office in Iran

In his recent interview with Afghan News channel “Tolo News”, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran for political affairs, Abbas Araghchi states: "The Taliban do not have an office in Iran.”

He, moreover, declares that in fact the United States has negotiated with the Taliban about the future of Afghanistan without the presence of the Afghan government; “the Taliban may have created Mashhad council at their own wish, but to us, it is unacceptable”, he added.

In response to the question of the time of Iran-Taliban contacts establishment, he asserts: “for several years” and he declares as Iran is in touch with all groups, including them (Taliban), “we heard their opinions and we expressed our opinions" he added.

He further insists it is United Stated that considers itself as an ally of Afghanistan and made the deal with the Taliban and said: "Everyone knows who made and supported the Taliban and who is still negotiating with them."

In his response to the Mullah Akhtar Mansour's presence in Iran (in 2016) he said: “That is something I am not aware of” but there exists a conspiracy against Iran that shows it as an enemy of Afghanistan “you should be aware not to be fallen into that trap.”
