US Soccer Federation denies match with Iran

Tehran, YJC. Gulati says there has been nothing such as plan for the two Iranian and US national teams to hold a friendly match.

While some press had stated that the soccer federations of Iran and the US were making plans for a friendly match in November, the President of the US Soccer Federation has said that there is no such news.

Some sources had maintained that the two national teams were going to meet on November 19.

In the meantime, Iran’s soccer officials neither rejected nor approved of the reports.

US President of Soccer Association Sunil Gulati says that there has been no such plans, Mehr News Agency reports.

"There has been no decision made for a friendly match with Iran to this moment,” he maintained.

Iran and the US has faced two times so far. The first time was in the 1998 France World Cup where Iran beat the rival 2 to 1.

The second time it was a friendly match held in California in 2000 which indeed in a draw.
