Sunday, 28 June_A so-called monitoring group says unidentified aircraft have bombed Syrian military positions near an Iraqi border, killing six people, including four Syrian nationals.

Warplanes attack Syrian positions in Bukamal, kill six: ObservatoryThe Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the air raids, which are believed to have been carried out by Israel, targeted an area near al-Abbas village, in the al-Bukamal region east of Dayr al-Zawr on Saturday.

The monitoring group did not say who was behind the attack but said Israel was “likely responsible".

On Friday, the observatory said Israel had carried out strikes earlier in the week in several regions throughout the Arab country.

According to the monitoring group and the Syrian official news agency, SANA, the air raids killed at least seven people, including two Syrian soldiers and five allied forces.

The air raid was the fourth incident of alleged Israeli strikes in Syria in the past month.

Israel's aggressive moves against Syria have been viewed by observers as an attempt to weaken the Damascus government as it increasingly gains the upper hand in its fight against terrorist groups.
