Tehran, YJC. Experts say that in 10 years from now, there will be no customer for the Iranian oil.
In a conference on Iran’s energy resources held in Tehran on
Tuesday evening, experts warned that the country is going to lose its oil
customers in a decade.
Mohammad Mehdi Behkish, Secretary of the Iranian Committee
of the International Chamber of Commerce, Mehdi Asali, Deputy Chairman of the
Institute for International Energy Studies, and Qolamhossein Hassantash, faculty
member of the International Energy Studies Research Center, and a number of
other experts and researchers attended the conference to discuss the future of Iran’s
oil industry.
"If our political leaders do not grasp the idea as they need
to, and if they do not sign strategic contracts with countries such as Indida, Iran
will have some trouble to sell its oil and gas in the future,” said Behkish.
"The 10-year outlook
tells us that Iran’s oil will be let down,” he stated, providing comments on
how new energy resources as well as new oil producers are going to diminish the
current demand for the Iranian oil.
Hassantash also pointed to a recent gas contract between China
and Russia where an annual amount of 35 million m3 gas worth $400 billion will
be transferred.
"Such a contract shows a change in outlook by the Russians
who have shifted their energy export to the east,” he said.
He further stated "It is a wrong impression to think that
without gas and oil from Iran, the world will be miserable, because Western countries
are seeking ways to remove Iran from the market without a change in energy
prices.”
Mehdi Asali also pointed out that the price of oil will be
the same in the two years to come and said "In the next decade if there is no
advancement in technology, oil will be no more expensive than $95.”
