Venezuela, Iran discuss ties amid pandemic

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro held a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, in which both leaders highlighted efforts to overcome the coronavirus outbreak in their countries.

He said Tehran-Caracas cooperation could flatten the curve of the contagion and restore the normal life of Venezuelans and Iranians.

Venezuelan officials say the bilateral relations make both countries stronger, both politically and economically, to overcome the consequences of the ongoing US blockade that simultaneously targets the economies of Iran and Venezuela.

While the Venezuelan opposition criticizes these bilateral relations, the socialists emphasize their benefits. Experts agree on the importance of nations working together against the coronavirus outbreak.

Venezuela and Iran continue their good relations especially during the current pandemic. Despite the fact that the United States imposed heavy sanctions on both these nations, they continue their efforts to tackle the coronavirus spread.
