TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club(YJC)_While 53 percent of Republicans favor Trump, 47 percent said they think the Civil War-era leader was better.
Lincoln, however, is viewed better than Trump among all Americans. The poll shows that 75 percent think he was a better president compared to 25 percent who think otherwise.
When Democrats were asked to give their opinions, 94 percent said they like Lincoln better.
The Republican president, who is grappling with an impeachment inquiry, has previously celebrated his approval ratings within the party.
“You know, a poll just came out that I am the most popular person in the history of the Republican Party,” Trump said in a July interview with The Sun newspaper in the UK.
“Beating Lincoln,” Trump added, without saying which poll he was referring to. “I beat our Honest Abe.”
Despite impeachment and other controversies surrounding Trump, he maintains a strong approval rating among Republicans.
