Tehran, YJC. Rouhani says his administration will be giving special importance to the rural share of the country’s economy.

President Hassan Rouhani who has traveled to Khorramabad, Luristan addressed a congregation of the province’s rural representatives on Wednesday afternoon.

"The rural is featured with beauty from clothing to manners and ethics,” said President Rouhani, providing comments on the values of rural life.

"Humanity and Islam try to preserve such a beauty. Religion is not to give new things to man, but rather to preserve and to revive what is innately there,” he added.

"The rural sunset and sunrise are much different than those of the urban,” he asserted, adding "there are great cultural and ethical values to the rural life which we have to be preserved.”

The president then addressed the economic role of the rural and said "There was a time when every morning people in towns expected their fruits, their dairy products, and their meat to arrive from the province; as well as their cloth and artifact which were made there. It was so that the rural was mainly the producer and the town the end user.”

"Traditionally, in the town-province trade, it was always the province which had the upper hand and the side which made money,” he further pointed out and said "now we have to find out where the problem is,” stressing the need to help the country’s rural areas back to their proper economic place.

President Rouhani also addressed the need to help develop rural areas in order to prevent migration to towns as a way to help the rural economy.

He also stated that his administration will be taking special care of the needs of people from rural areas such as those in the health section.
