TEHRAN, Nov 23_The Iranian embassy in London has filed a complaint against adversary Persian-language TV channels based in the United Kingdom for biased distorting of the recent events in Iran.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club(YJC)_Iran's Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad said on Twitter on Friday that the embassy in a formal letter has lodged a complaint with Ofcom against the conduct of hostile Persian-language networks such as BBC Farsi, Iran International and Manoto.
The complaint relates to these channels' biased distortion of the recent developments in Iran and calling for widespread violence against civil institutions in Iran, he added.
Protests erupted in a number of Iranian cities in recent days after a decision by authorities to ration gasoline and substantially increase the fuel price as part of efforts to blunt the effects of US sanctions on the country's economy.
The demonstrations turned violent in some cities, with reports of clashes between security forces and certain elements, who vandalized public property and, on several occasions, opened fire on the crowd.
There have been reports of fatalities among both security forces and civilians amid the unrest that followed the protests.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday threw his weight behind the government's decision to ration gasoline and increase its price.
