TEHRAN, oct 18_Hundreds of Kurds and pro-Kurdish protesters gathered outside the US Consulate in Thessaloniki on Thursday to protest the US withdrawal from northern Syria and Turkey's military operations in the area.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club(YJC)_Earlier in the day, police reportedly detained 12 people who held a protest at the birthplace of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey.
On Thursday, US Vice President Mike Pence announced a five-day ceasefire in Turkey's military offensive, dubbed 'Operation Peace Spring,' which began on October 9, mere days after the White House announced a withdrawal of US troops from the area.
Ankara said the aim of the offensive was to create a safe zone cleared of Kurdish groups.
