TEHRAN, Sept 14 -The biggest international arms fair has just concluded its final day in the British capita showcasing the very latest weapons, likely be sold to governments and regimes at that forefront of global human rights abuses.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club(YJC)_Significant Israeli weaponry is manufactured in Britain, with four factories in the UK owned by Israeli Arms Company Elbit Systems, which manufactures 85-percent of drones used to attack the besieged Gaza Strip. That means it can market its equipment as 'battle tested' increasing their sale value.
Protesters have remained outside the Excel Centre in east London to oppose the arms fair, calling for an end to the multi-billion-dollar industry.
The demonstrators were also quick to call out the role of the government in facilitating arms sales leading to serious human rights abuses.
Despite legal challenges and human rights groups highlighting the global impact of the arms industry, the market and appetite for war and weapons technology continues.
The London arms fair showcases the latest technology in warfare and is opposed by campaigners, with the UK exporting billions of dollars worth of weapons to countries like Saudi Arabia each year, fuelling the very human rights abuses the government claims they oppose.
