TEHRAN, August 11 -Muslim pilgrims on Sunday threw stones at pillars representing the devil as part of the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

The hajj is a series of rituals meant to cleanse the soul of sins and instill a sense of equality and brotherhood. All able-bodied Muslims are required to perform the hajj once in their lives.

The final days of hajj coincide with Eid al-Adha, or the "Feast of Sacrifice." The holiday is celebrated by Muslims around the world to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim's test of faith.
