TEHRAN, Jul 25 - Iran will be hosting the deep diving and road patrol competitions of the International Army Games 2019, which are held in 10 different countries, an Iranian military official said.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Director of the Physical Education Department of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said on Wednesday that the International Army Games 2019 will be held in 10 countries, with Iran playing host to two items, the deep diving and the road patrol competitions.
Russia is the central coordinator of the Army Games, General Kamal Payambari said at a press conference, noting that military forces from Syria, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, and Venezuela will arrive in Iran as of Thursday for the competitions.
The deep diving competition will be held on the shores of Iran’s southern island of Kish, while the road patrol contests will be held in Parand region, south of Tehran, he added.
The general said Russia will be hosting 16 data-x-items of the Army Games, while the other competitions will be held in China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Mongolia and Uzbekistan.
The drone competition will be held in Kazakhstan, he noted, adding that Iran will attend the games with homegrown pilotless aircraft.
The general said Iran will be represented by 308 competitors in the Army Games 2019 in various data-x-items such as depth (competition among deep divers), road patrol (competition among military police officers), tank biathlon, airborne platoon, guardians of order (competition among military police units), seaborne assault, masters of artillery fire (competition among mortar crews), military rally (competition among armored vehicle crews), sea cup (competition among warship crews), sniper frontier, and drone competition.
He also noted that 160 other Iranian military forces in 14 teams are scheduled to take part in the International Military Sports Council (CISM) competitions, due to be held in China in mid-October.
The Iranian military athletes will compete in the CISM games in 14 items, such as taekwondo, judo, wrestling, triathlon, pentathlon, marathon, cycling, lifeguard competition, shooting, archery, and track and field, he concluded.
The International Military Sports Council is one of the largest multidisciplinary organizations in the world that organizes various sports events for the armed forces of its 138 member countries.
Each year, CISM organizes over 20 international events in around 30 different sports fields, according to its website.
