TEHRAN, Jul 12 -US President Donald Trump has said he has developed a very friendly relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, adding that he “was so happy to see me.”
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -"You have a man that was so happy to see me. That’s a good thing, not a bad thing," Trump told reporters on Friday at the White House.
"You have a man that doesn’t smile a lot, but when he saw me, he smiled. He was happy," he continued. "You have a man that when I came into office all he was doing before was testing nuclear weapons… and now he’s not doing it."
Late last month Trump made a spur-of-the-moment decision and met the North Korean leader and stepped onto the country’s soil.
Trump took the decision towards the end of a trip to South Korea and met with Kim in the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on June 30. He then walked many steps into the North’s territory to become the first-ever American president to do so.
Both during the meeting and after follow-up talks on the southern side, Trump hugely praised the Korean leader and the countries’ “great relations.” The entire escapade was accompanied by much media pomp and a flurry of photography.
