TEHRAN, YJC. Gholamhosein Karbaschi has said in an interview that Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani has a positive outlook regarding Khatami’s candidacy for upcoming presidential elections.
Mehr News Agency has conducted an interview with Gholamhosein Karbaschi on upcoming elections. Karbaschi is currentyly the Secretary of the Executives of Construction Party and has financially and spiritually supported an array of unorthodox journals such as Shahrvand Emrooz, Asman, Mehrnameh, Tajrobeh, etc. besides his mayorship of cities such as Tehran and Isfahan.
"What I have heard for sure is that Mr. Hashemi has not yet said that he won’t be running for the next term,” Karbaschi said.
"Meanwhile he has in mind to approve of someone, but I have not heard yet that he must have specifically mentioned a name.” added Karbaschi.
Secretary of the Executives of Construction Party believed that those who are close to Hashemi are all options for candidacy; figures such as Najafi, Jahangiri, and Rohani.
"Maybe” he added "Mr. Hashemi personally believes that Khatami is the best choice for getting votes.”
"I have not personally heard this, but some friends whom I have talked to say that he is positive on this,” asserted Karbaschi regarding the possibilities of Rafsanjani supporting Khatami.
