TEHRAN, Jun 29 -Iran have defeated Serbia three sets to one to get back to the top of the standings.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -The towering Iranians gained the upper hand midway through the opener and stuck to their advantage up to a 25-23 win, but the Serbians responded in the second when they worked their way through to a 28-26 victory.
Hell-bent to get back to the top, Iran assumed control after grabbing a 5-point lead that helped them ease to a 25-22 win.
The Asian aces then took the momentum to finish off the Serbs with an emphatic 25-19 on the score-line. Amir Ghafour contributed an outstanding 25 points to the win, while Srećko Lisinac led the Serbs with 17 points.
So far, team Iran have pocketed 33 points, and are three ahead of Brazil who have a game in hand.
