TEHRAN, YJC. Brigadier General Ali Rashid has said that should a war break out with enemies, Iran will make no bones in targeting all their positions.
Stressing developments in
the combat power of the army forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Deputy
Chairman of Iranian Armed Forces' Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Gholam Ali
Rashid said in the Conference on National Defense, Comprehensive Defense
"In this conference the most important word is the term defense itself.”
Deputy Chairman of Iranian
Armed Forces' Chiefs of Staff pointed to the importance of defense at the time
of peace and said "In the peacetime we must use our experience and keep ready
for the time of war. Most importantly we must think of defense terms of the
mobilization of recourses.”
Rahisdi also said that defense statistics show that between the
years 1980 and 1990 the budget for defense has ranged from 11.62 to 15.14
percent of the country’s total. He also added that the number has decreased to
9.59 percent in the current year.

Deputy Chairman of Iranian
Armed Forces' Chiefs of Staff Brigadier General Gholam Ali Rashid added "In
case a war starts the entire strategic positions of the enemy will be targeted.
We must also pay attention to the enemy’s upper hand in the air.”
He added "As to the next war and chances for its occurrence there exists
no desirable consensus and we hope that one is arrived at.”
Rashid pointed to the need for take example from US war on Iraq
and Afghanistan and said "An agreement must be arrived at between our military
men and politicians. The necessity of defense must also be welcomed people.”
