Tehran, YJC. Head of parliamentary friendship group says his team will cancel their visit to the UK if they are to be fingerprinted.
Head of the Iran-UK friendship group of Iran’s parliament,
Majils, pointing to recent EU Parliament decision to fingerprint Iranian nationals
upon entrance in Europe said "Fingerprinting is not a bad thing by itself. But whatever
happens must be two-sided, that is, whatever there is for us, it must be there for
them as well.”
Abbasali Mansouri Arani who was speaking in interview with
Tasnim news agency added "We did not fingerprint the British parliamentary
delegation. Naturally, if Iran’s parliamentary delegation decides to go to
England it is sure to be without fingerprinting.”
"If the overseas committee of the Majlis decides that the
delegation make the trip to the UK, and in case British officials bring forward
the issue of fingerprinting, I as the head of the delegation will surely not
agree to the trip, because we welcomed the British parliamentary team without
fingerprinting. Likewise, and this is the tradition, that any Iranian parliamentary
group which would like to visit that country it must be done without
fingerprinting. Let me leave no doubt that we will not act beyond the tradition,”
Arani asserted.
