TEHRAN, May 29 - Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated the Lebanese people, government and resistance groups on the anniversary of the liberation of southern parts of the Arab country from the Israeli occupation 19 years ago.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In separate messages to Secretary General of Hezbollah Seyed Hassan Nasrallah and Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil on Wednesday, Zarif offered congratulations on the anniversary of liberation of South Lebanon from the Zionist regime’s occupation by the young forces of resistance.
He also wished success and prosperity for the Lebanese government, nation, and families of those martyred in the course of anti-Israeli resistance.
Lebanon commemorated the 19th anniversary of the Israeli withdrawal from the country, known as Resistance and Liberation Day, on May 25.
Hezbollah forced the Israeli military out of the southern parts of Lebanon in 2000, after more than two decades of occupation.
People in Lebanon consider May 25 as a beginning of dramatic change in the region.
The Lebanese commemorate the day as a national holiday and see it as a transformation that changed the regional equations for good, and put an end to the invincibility myth of the Israeli military.
