TEHRAN, May 26 - Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani denounced the “treacherous” US-led plan for “peace” in Palestine, calling for strong solidarity with Palestinians and support for their rights with the International Quds Day approaching.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “In the current circumstances, a wicked move is underway in the region under the name of the West’s big plan (for Palestine), and a conference is also going to be held in this regard that would bring disgrace on any country taking part in it or implementing the plan,” Larijani said in an open session of the Parliament on Sunday.
The new Western plot against Palestine is “treacherous and vicious”, the speaker said, adding that it excludes even the small benefits for the Palestinians and Muslims proposed in previous peace plans.
Larijani called on the Iranian nation to express solidarity with the Palestinian nation in the demonstrations in this year’s International Quds Day, which he said has “focal significance” to Muslims.
US President Donald Trump’s administration has been pushing for an arbitrary plan purportedly for peace between Palestine and the Zionist regime of Israel.
Meanwhile, Bahrain is going to host a conference in June to encourage investment in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as part of Trump’s Israel-Palestinian peace plan.
The so-called “Peace to Prosperity” economic workshop, to be held on June 25-26 in cooperation with Washington, has already been rebuffed by Palestinian officials and business leaders.
The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Hamas have called for an Arab boycott of the meeting.
However, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have announced they will participate in the conference.
