Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is seeking to launch a direct civil aviation route to the United States.

Head of Iran’s Aviation Organization in interview with ICANA provided comments on the latest developments on Iran’s aviation and said "As for the United States, according to international regulations agreements must be signed by both countries which are being pursued by the Foreign Ministry.”

Maintaining that except for the US there is not much trouble about direct flights, Alireza Jahangirian said "The important issue in direct flights to other countries is that there must be a proper fleet with enough aircrafts.”

He also stated that Austria has resumed its flights to Iran which had been closed for a while.

Head of Iran’s Aviation Organization further pointed to the crushing influence of international sanctions on the country’s aviation industry and said "It seems that positive steps have been taken there. Yet, while Iran abided to its terms of agreement, Western countries are acting the obligations with delay, a delay which is going to be fatal to us and over which we have expressed concern and dissatisfaction.”
