Tehran, YJC. Netherlands parliamentary delegation called off their trip to Iran due to the Iranian Foreign Ministry warning them against meeting with political activists.
Following a series of visits by European politicians to Iran
who also met with opposition members in the sidelines, the Iranian Foreign
Ministry has laid conditions for Europeans, warning against any such "unplanned”
meetings as they would call it.
Now a delegation from the Dutch House of Representatives
which was going to visit Iran soon has called off its trip.
Lawmaker Ebrahim Aqamohammadi in interview with Mehr News
Agency said "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had warned the parliamentary
delegation that if they are going to visit Iran, they must not do anything
outside the diplomatic norms, such as meeting the seditionist and anti-revolutionaries.”
The Khorramabad representative to the Majlis added "The
Dutch parliamentary delegation did not agree to the condition, so their trip is
practically cancelled and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs didn’t issue their
entry permit as well.”
Member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee
further asserted "The Netherlands parliamentarians calling off their trip to Iran
proved that the major reason for European parliamentarian groups to visit Iran is
to meet anti-revolutionaries and seditionists.”
