Tehran, YJC. Nuclear chief says it is Iran’s right to enrich uranium as it needs.

Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization appeared in a TV show to provide comments on the latest policies on the country’s nuclear technology.

"For the annual fuel of the Bushehr power plant we must have 50 thousand centrifuges so that they would give us 30 tons enriched uranium,” Aliakbar Salehi stated.

He further asserted "The rules say that we must produce 20 thousand MW nuclear electricity.”

He then added that Iran is going to build 4 new nuclear power plants in cooperation with Russia.

"We have produced about seven to eight tons of enriched uranium. But to feed the Bushehr power plant we will need 50 thousand centrifuges so that we can produce 30 tons,” he stated.

Head of the IAEO maintained "The 20-percent fuel is different from other enrichment levels. First of all we believe that we have every right that any other member of the NPT and the IAEA has. No what that means is that it is our right to enrich from 1 to 90 percent. We will not surpass that level. If we oblige ourselves to a certain enrichment level it is entirely voluntary not imposed by the other side.”
