Iran proposes to ECO in oil

TEHRAN, YJC. The Oil Minister has delivered a new proposal to oil and energy ministers of 10 ECO countries for maintaining what he has called energy security.

Rostam Ghasemi said today in the 3rd meeting of energy ministers of the ECO countries that despite advancements regarding green and renewable energies, these remain of still a small portion in world consumption.

The Oil Minister also provided comments on the ECO as possessing one fourth of the world’s gas and one eighth of its oil reserves and stated "Despite the huge hydrocarbon reserve, cooperation and trade within countries member of ECO is so week.”

He said "Statistics show that currently the ECO has a great potential for producing energy. With planning and optimal use of energy, the ECO zone could provide answers for global demands in terms of economy and energy.”

Ghasemi stressed the need for free energy trade in the zone and stated "The ECO countries must prioritize cooperation in the energy section.”
