Tehran, YJC. Tehran representative to Majlis says the EP’s talk of human rights in its recent resolution is a pity.

Speaking in reaction to the recent anti-Iranian resolution by the European Parliament, lawmaker Qolamali Haddad Adel said "The talk of human rights and presidential elections are two pathetic parts of the statement. The statement shows that Europe has not yet abandoned its colonial manners of the 17th and 18th centuries.”

He also added "In parts of this statement the nuclear talks and lifting the sanctions have been mentioned and strengthening diplomatic ties between Iran and Europe have been stressed. We consider this part of the statement mellower in tone compared to the past.”

Adel stated "The European statement wants Iran to observe the EU standard in various spheres. When was it proven that EU standards are right? Why do have others to follow a line which the European civilization considers right?”

"We Muslims have our own convictions which we defend with logic. We are ready to discuss Islamic rules with Westerners. If only you were sincere in what you call human rights! You keep silent against democracy and human rights whenever you see it’s against you interests,” the Tehran representative to the Majlis said.

"Whenever human rights are violated you will keep silent if your interests are not concerned. The present Iran is no more that of the Qajar or Pahlavi times when you could do whatever you wanted,” Adel asserted.
