Tasnim news agency reports that Iran’s rescue fleet berthed at Muscat, Oman on Friday.
The fleet had left Iran’s Bandar Abbas two days earlier.
The fleet includes the destroyer Alvand, rocket launcher Shamshir, the logistic warship Bushehr, and the AB212 helicopter of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s naval force along with the emergency tow vessel Safir3 of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
Iran and Oman are highly strategic countries in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman area which nest the vital Strait of Hormuz.
According to a 2010 deal the two countries will hold rescue drills in either side each year.
This year is the fourth year the two countries have been holding the drills and the drills are to be carried out on April 7.
Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, commander of the Iranian Navy, had earlier stated that the exercises would be a series of probe and rescue drills to boost Iran’s power in dealing with real situations.
