Tehran, YJC. Afkham has rebuffed the EU Parliament's action in passing a resolution against Iran concerning human rights.

The Spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran addressing the EU Parliament's recent action against Iran in terms of human rights said "At a time when the Islamic Republic of Iran and the EU have taken considerable preliminary steps to solve mutual concerns, the EU Parliament's new position concerning human rights and mentioning unrealistic things especially about elections in Iran are quite unacceptable."

Marzieh Afkham further stated "The EU Parliament's action in passing resolution and making unsound human rights statements are by no means constructive and are in contrast to the current trend of affairs. These actions are not realistic."

"It is an indispensable matter that the EU Parliament should understand and respect countries religious, historical, and cultural beliefs. It is also required that to raise human rights concerns in the world the EU Parliament should try to prevent human rights being used as a political tool," the Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman asserted.

She also stated "The Islamic Republic of Iran follows the rights of its citizens through inspirations from Islamic teachings. Introducing one-sided, unsound, and undocumented claims in this area will not be of any help."
