EHRAN, Apr 21 - Bahrain's top Shiite cleric, Sheikh Issa Ghassem in a ceremony celebrating mid-Sha'ban and the birth of the savior of mankind, the twelfth Imam of Shia Muslims, Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) in the holy mosque of Jamkaran said standing up to tyranny is the key to realization of Imam Mahdi's global reign.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In a ceremony held on Saturday night in Jamkaran in Qom Province, Sheikh Issa Ghassem emphasized the need to strengthen Muslims insight, mental and physical strength and said: "Muslims should be strengthened in all aspects of their lives for destroying the tyrants to provide the conditions for emergence of Imam Mahdi, Iran Press reported.
Top Bahraini Shiite cleric said the Imam Mahdi global government will emerge when Muslims stand against arrogance and tyranny and worship Allah.
The solution for solving Muslim's problems is following the Imam, who never diverts from the path of Islam and never forgets his duties in serving and worshipping the Almighty.
In the Jamkaran Mosque ritual of mid-Sha'ban celebration, Sheikh Issa Ghassem was awarded the title of "Mahdi Yavar" of the year (literally meaning an assistant to Mahdi) and was awarded a prize.
Jamkaran Mosque selects every year a prominent figure of Shia Islam as "Mahdi Yavar" which means somebody who will be at the service of Imam of the age, to help him when he emerges from the great occultation.
This year on 21 April is the mid-Sha'ban celebration, (Shaban is the eighth month of Islamic calendar) when many people celebrate the birth of Savior of mankind, the twelfth Imam of Shia Muslims, Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance).
The occasion of mid-Sha'ban is marked by devotion and celebration among Shia Muslims. Imam Mahdi, according to Shia belief, was born on July 29, 869 CE (Shaban 15, 255 AH) in Samarra, a city in modern-day Iraq.
The illuminations in Qom city and the neighboring region Jamkaran, where, according to Shia narratives, a holy mosque built upon Imam Mahdi’s order is located, are very popular and many tourists and pilgrims alike are attracted to the city for the night.
