TEHRAN, Apr 09 - Iran marked the National Nuclear Technology Day on Tuesday by unveiling 114 new achievements of the country’s nuclear scientists.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In a ceremony attended by President Hassan Rouhani here in Tehran, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) unveiled 114 homegrown achievements in the nuclear industry.

In the ceremony, the president inaugurated six outstanding projects and systems via video conference.

AEOI Chief Ali Akbar Salehi made a speech at the beginning of the event, saying the country has made headways in the nuclear industry, which has also contributed to progress in other industrial and medical sectors.

He also gave a brief description of the six homegrown projects and equipment unveiled at the ceremony, including the continuous flow zonal centrifuge, a control system for monitoring nuclear processes, quantum entangled photon sources, a material called Yttrium-90 used in radiation therapy to treat liver cancer, oxygen-18 which is a stable isotope used for making radiopharmaceuticals, and a FTIR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy) spectrograph used in the medical and food industries.
