Tehran, YJC. Larijani says the UN is taken by absurdness as shown in recent report on the state of human rights in Iran.

Speaking in a conference in Shiraz, Fars on Wednesday evening the Speaker of Iran’s Majlis said "It was quite unexpected that the UN Secretary General would present such a slack report. It is likely that the report was taken from Mossad and the CIA.”

"At a certain point of time they brought up the issue of missiles, which was quite baseless; so they are resorting to human rights in order to challenge Iran’s reputation,” Ali Larijani stated.

He asserted "If there was a hint of decency on the international arena the UN, which must have solved problems out there, would not have been taken by absurdness, because the UN was to help international peace, but in the past years it has made no move on wars that have broken up in the area.”

"If they are concerned with human rights they might as well investigate what Americans are doing in the Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib,” he demanded.

"There is no reason why in our country democracy should be accompanied by their pointless culture,” he maintained, adding "You are a Christian country and have created some democracy with its specific problems. We are an Islamic country with our own judicial system. You have allowed homosexuality and, in a way, savagery. There is no reason why we have to do that.”
