Tehran, YJC. Thilo Weichert says the US preserves its information hegemony through espionage.
Head
of the Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein State Commission for Data Protection in
interview with Tasnim Online pointed to the US National Security Agency’s acts
of espionage said "Awareness of US data espionage will eventually increase our
caution in personal data protection and our security measures to that aim.”
In answer
to a question requiring if NSA’s acts of espionage are counted as violations to
human rights and international rules he said "In the November of 2013, the
United Nations clarified this in a resolution, that such acts of espionage are
violations to human rights. Also such acts disregarded the European Constitution
as well as the particular constitutional right to informational independence,
also obliterating trust in IT and telecommunication systems.”
Weichert providing comments on the German
government tracking NSA’s operations said "German security organizations have naturally
been aware of the issue, but due to its political and economical import for
Germany, that amount of espionage of our country is nothing to overlook.”
He further
stated that US espionage has especially contributed to the country’s political
and economic hegemony.
He also
called Edward Snowden a hero and said "He is surely a prominent whistleblower
who made us realize what information and security organizations have done with
the internet and with our digital freedom. Since 7 months ago I have been
requesting EU support and refuge for Snowden.”
