Tehran, YJC. Interior Ministry spokesman has said that Iran knows of the place where 5 Iranian soldiers are kept captive.
"We know to some degree of the whereabouts of the hostage
soldiers. We recognize only the Pakistani government on this matter and we have
nothing to do with the terrorist group,” said Hosseinali Amiri Qaem,
Vice-chancellor to Iran’s Minister of Interior.
He further stated "What is important for us is the lives of these
5 dear ones. Things must go in a way so that their lives are not exposed to any
threat.”
Amiri pointed out that while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
pursues the diplomatic procedures on the matter, the Interior Ministry is also
in contact with the country’s Ambassador to Pakistan and closely follows the
case.
He added "Pakistan expressed pity over what has happened. We
saw goodwill there. They promised to help free these 5 border guards.”
"A delegation was dispatched to Quetta last week. They formed
the joint border committee and viewpoints were exchanged,” the IM
Vice-chancellor pointed out.
He added that while efforts are being made to free them, Iran
knows about the soldiers’ whereabouts and it also knows that they are in full
health.
