TEHRAN, Feb 26 - British Prime Minister Theresa May could bring a Brexit deal to a vote in parliament as early as next week, her de-facto deputy said on Tuesday.

Brexit awaiting a clear decision in parliament next week

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - When repeatedly asked if May would rule out a no-deal Brexit, he did not address the question directly.

“These negotiations are at an absolutely critical time,” David Lidington said.

“We need to hold our nerve as a government, get behind the prime minister, see those decisions and those changes through and then we’ve got a very clear pledge at the very latest, I hope it’s sooner, ... by March 12 this will come back to the House of Commons for a clear decision.”

Britain’s plan to leave the EU was thrown into crisis after the Parliament resoundingly rejected May’s deal last month with the biggest government defeat in modern British history.

That forced May to seek changes to her deal, which was agreed in November, but so far, her talks with the EU have yet to settle on a clear path that can win her the support of the Parliament, which is deeply divided over Brexit.

On Sunday, May said a so-called “meaningful vote” would not take place this week and instead would happen by March 12 -- a move some lawmakers underlined that the prime minister had all but lost control of Brexit.
