Tehran, YJC. Hashemi and Reynders have met in Tehran.
Belgium's
Deputy Prime Minister Didier Reynders and Iran’s Head of Expediency Discernment
Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani met in Tehran on Monday morning.
Hashemi
said "We have to see irrational support by the West, especially the US,
rendered to equip extremists with definite negative impacts all around the
world, not least in Syria with lots of foreign armed forces in it.”
"As
educated by their faith, knowledgeable Muslims are sincerely against
disintegration and religious clash. The extremist see their survival in aggravating
such tensions,” he asserted.
The
Head of the Expediency Discernment Council further pointed to Iran’s nuclear
talks with the Six Majors and said "Americans must avoid contributing to
further distrust. The Supreme Leader’s fatwa calling the production of nuclear weapons
haram is also well known. The government is also ready to answer all concerns
within the IAEA framework. So if Americans are honest and realistic, reaching a
comprehensive, successful agreement is conceivable.”
The
Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium Didier Reynders in turn thanked Iran for
actively engaging in nuclear talks with the P5+1 and stated that for a
high-ranking Belgian delegation to visit the country is indicative of Iran’s
importance in regional affairs.
Also
expressing regret that Iran was not invited to the Geneva2 talks on Syria,
Reynders said "We believe that Iran attending the negotiations would have
helped find a peaceful way to solve the Syrian crisis. Even now we hope that we
can enjoy more of your abilities and viewpoints on the matter.”
The
Belgian Prime Minister in the end invited Mr. Hashemi on a visit to his
country.
