TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Larijani, who has travelled to Japan with a parliamentary delegation, met with Chuichi Date on Tuesday.

In the gathering, the Iranian official hailed the age-old relations between Tehran and Tokyo, expressing Iran’s willingness for cooperation with Japan in industrial, technological and trade fields.

“There are proper grounds for Japanese investment in Iran in various fields, such as oil, gas, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industry,” Larijani said.

For his part, the Japanese lawmaker voiced his country’s support for the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, calling for the enhancement of political, economic and cultural ties between the two nations.

He added that Japan and Iran can grow cultural and sports interaction and gain a mutual understanding for development of ties.

Iran and Japan have ramped up efforts in recent years to boost bilateral relations in diverse political and economic fields.

In May 2018, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono reiterated his country’s support for the 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and world powers, saying it is important that Iran and other parties maintain the deal.
