TEHRAN, Feb 03 - The president of Iran called for efforts to enhance economic cooperation with Kazakhstan, saying the two nations share stances on many regional and international developments.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In a meeting with Kazakhstan’s new ambassador to Tehran on Saturday, President Hassan Rouhani said Iran and Kazakhstan have huge economic potential, hoping for the expansion of economic, cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.
Hailing the cultural commonalities of Iran and Kazakhstan and the history of fraternity and friendship between the two nations, Rouhani praised Kazakhstan for hosting several rounds of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and the international talks on the crisis in Syria.
“Tehran and Astana have had constructive and successful cooperation on various regional issues, such as the Caspian Sea, and share similar views on many major regional and global issues,” the president added.
For his part, the new Kazakh envoy congratulated Iran on the 40th anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution, highlighting his country’s political resolve to develop ties with Iran.
The diplomat also pledged efforts to push for the promotion of relations with Iran during his tenure.
The Iranian president paid a visit to Kazakhstan in August 2018 for a Caspian summit, during which he held a meeting with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to discuss a range of issues, from the efforts for peace in Syria to using the two countries’ currencies in bilateral trade.
