TEHRAN, Feb 03 - The ECI president said that the best way to expand diplomacy is through expansion of cultural diplomacy and public diplomacy.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Cultural Institute (ECI)’s president, Mohammad-Mehdi Mazaheri pointing to Museums as the symbols of protection of civilizations and human culture, said: "Museums also are effective in developing the culture of tourism."
Mazaheri added: "So museums are all considered as elements of cultural diplomacy and since some colonial countries have caused problems for Iran in the international arena, the best way to expand diplomacy is through expansion of cultural diplomacy and public diplomacy".
ECI president reiterated: "According to an agreement with Melli Bank Museum, it has been decided that ambassadors from ECO countries, some other countries and also international organizations based in Tehran should visit the Bank Melli Museum."
He added: "Of course recently the ECO Cultural Institute has taken many steps towards public diplomacy like ECO's Peace Farm, ECO Peace Stamp, Peace Dress which has been unveiled and today we are witnessing that some ambassadors are present at the Museum of Bank Melli (the National Bank)."
Mazaheri said Museums are very useful for expanding cultural and public diplomacy.
He added: "However, ECO Cultural Institute will hold the National Museum Summit in cooperation with the National Museum of Iran and the Cultural Heritage Organization this year in Tehran. In the field of museum workshops, the ECO Cultural Institute has done well last year in cooperation with the Cultural Heritage Research Institute."
