Tehran, YJC. Iran and Morocco Foreign Ministers have discussed reopening embassies over the telephone.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran in Arab and African
Affairs said on Wednesday that FM Mohammad Javad Zarif has discussed reopening
embassies with his Moroccan counterpart Salaheddine
Mezouar over the telephone.
Hossein Amir Abdollahian
stated "In their recent phone call, Dr. Zarif and Salaheddine Mezouar, the
Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Moroccan Kingdom,
pointed to the two countries’ long record of cooperation and stressed the need
to resume diplomatic relations.”
He further stated that the
two countries will also reopen their embassies in the near future.
Rabat cut relations with Tehran
around 5 years ago claiming that Iran interfered with the internal affairs of
Bahrain.
