Iran summons Dutch envoy over embassy attackTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official met with Werner at the Foreign Ministry on Monday evening and conveyed Tehran’s strong protest over the attack on the Iranian embassy building in The Hague by a small group of protesters.

The Iranian official pointed to the similar attacks in the past and criticized the lack of decisive action by the police and judicial authorities of the Netherlands.

He further urged the Dutch government to take serious actions in line with its obligations under the Vienna Convention of 1961 and ensure the security of the Iranian embassy and its diplomats.

The Dutch ambassador, for his part, expressed regret for the incident, presented a report on the actions of his country's police regarding the perpetrators of the incident and said he would inform his government of Iran’s protest.

Around 10 protesters gathered at the Iranian embassy in The Hague on Wednesday and climbed over the embassy's fence, according to local reports.

Some of the protesters pelted the building with objects. The police arrested four of the demonstrators, the Volkskrant reported.

The Iranian embassy had also been stormed by protesters on January 5, according to the report.
