TEHRAN, December 31 - Iranian Foreign Minister Spokesman said that Iran did not totally count on Europe's financial mechanism in fulfilling the Nuclear deal.

Iran not totally depend on Europe SPV: Spox.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Bahram Ghassemi hopped that the Europeans could implement its Special Purposes Vehicle (SPV) in due time, fulfilling its commitments.

"We have followed the issue as a duty and mission to show that we advocate negotiating in different international areas either in economic area or political area, but certainly we have not depended ourselves on in any single formula. We, [as country] with a 40-year revolution experience, do not and will not tie up our fate to such issues" the spokesman noted.

Ghassemi pointed out to the Europeans' passiveness to US pressure and said that it seemed they were not able to defend their European identity as well as their economic institutions.

Launching SPV mechanism between Iran and Europe, Ghassemi explained, initiated after US unilaterally exit the nuclear deal signed between 5+1 countries and Iran (known as JCPOA), and continued with the Europeans' insisting on Iran's staying on JCPOA.

Iran and the 28-nation European Union have been discussing various ways to continue doing business with Iran and bypass US sanctions.

On September 24, Iran and its five partners released a joint statement announcing the setting up of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to facilitate continued trade with Iran, bypass the US financial system, and avoid any impact of America's secondary sanctions.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said in December 10 that the bloc will establish a mechanism to facilitate non-dollar transactions with Iran in the near future in an attempt to circumvent sanctions imposed by the United States against Tehran.
