Inspired by a Latin American tradition where New Year's revelers stuff dolls with objects representing bad memories before setting them on fire, Good Riddance Day is being celebrated in New York.
The annual event sees people saying goodbye to their unwanted memories of 2018, writing them down on pieces of paper and throwing them in bins to be shredded.
