TEHRAN, December 08 - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has named Iran's Sardar Azmoun as one of its top-10 Asian strikers.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The Asian Football Confederation also refer to Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun as “the Iranian Golden Boy”.
According to Iran Press, less than a month before the 20-19 Asian Cup in the UAE, the Asian Football Confederation has dubbed 10 target men, as the most threatening strikers in Asia, whose nations rely on their goal scoring skills. Azmoun has been included in the list.
Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun has an excellent scoring record for Team Melli (Iran national football team) and netted twice in four games in the Asian Cup Australia 2015.
The Iranian striker is in good shape to boost his record for the Cheetahs.
The 2019 AFC Asian Cup is a good opportunity for Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun to step to the fore.
As the 24 teams battle for the Continental crown in January, goals will be the most valuable currency.
UAE's Ali Mabkhout nipped the top scorer award in 2015 with five goals. But with the tournament expanded from 16 to 24 teams this time around, the goals race is set to be even more heated.
Kuala Lumpur, the biggest and best AFC Asian Cup will kick off in 50 days when the hosts, the United Arab Emirates, take on Persian Gulf neighbors Bahrain in Zayed Sports City to kick off the greatest football spectacle in Asia.
More teams than ever – a total of 24 – up from 16 – will compete for not only Continental glory but also a glittering new trophy and a record prize fund of almost US$15 million in this football extravaganza.

A new innovation at the tournament is the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system from the quarter-finals onward and also a tournament specific official match ball produced by Asian Manufacturers Molten.
