Tehran, YJC. Velayati says the US has to act within its nuclear deal with Iran if it is not to lose face.

The Head of the Center for Strategic Studies of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran visited the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow on Wednesday.

Aliakbar Velayati speaking in a news conference with Vladimir Fortov said "While the US continues its excessive demands, the Iranian negotiators’ insight and perseverance will help defend Iran’s nuclear rights.”

Pointing to a new proposal by US congressmen to increase sanctions against Iran on one hand and Obama’s decision to veto a bill to such effect, the former Iranian Foreign Minister said "There is this excessive demand about Americans. They have never proved their alleged goodwill toward Iran. So, considering their record, we do not expect more from the US.”

"The US should know that if it wants the negotiations to go on successfully it has to abide to the promises it has made, else it would lose international trust, as was manifest in some of their behavior which was criticized by some P5+1 members such as Russia. So, if the US does something against the final Geneva agreement it will lose some of its friends, including some members of the P5+1,” he asserted.
