TEHRAN, November 28 -Certain member states of the United Nations Security Council use their veto power to advance their own geopolitical agenda while they themselves are part of the problems like starvation in Yemen, says an activist.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -Certain member states of the United Nations Security Council use their veto power to advance their own geopolitical agenda while they themselves are part of the problems like starvation in Yemen, says an activist.
In an interview with Press TV on Wednesday, Barry Grossman, an international lawyer and peace activist, said some of the five permanent members of the Security Council “used their veto power and their clout” in order to “advance their own geopolitical agendas.”
“Let’s not forget that the problems being experienced in Yemen today - that is the humanitarian problems - are in no small part the direct result of the embargo imposed by the UN itself,” Grossman noted.
The US mission to the UN Security Council signaled on Tuesday that it was reluctant to act on a UK-drafted resolution for an immediate truce in Yemen until after talks had taken place in Stockholm in early December.
