Tehran, YJC. Top nuclear negotiator says Iran has set January 20 with the US and EU to start enacting the joint plan of action.
Speaking
in a news conference on Sunday, Abbas Araqchi said "We agreed that the first
step of the Geneva agreement will be operational on January 20.”
Iran’s
nuclear negotiator stated "Six countries have agreed to the procedures. Also,
inside the Islamic Republic of Iran the entire organizations concerned have
evaluated the procedures and announced their agreement.”
The
Deputy Foreign Minister further pointed to his recent meeting with the Deputy
Secretary General for the External Action Service (EAS) Helga Maria Schmidt and said "The
agreement was announced in the contact between me and Mrs. Schmidt. We agreed
that starting on January 20 the first step of the agreement would be
operational. We hope that it makes a good start and that we would start further
contacts shortly after.”
Araqchi then asserted "All these commitments
will be put to action in one day, that is all the sanctions which are to be
suspended, and which are mentioned in the written agreement and had been
previously discussed, will be suspended on January 20.”
