The identity of the service member and details about the incident will be shared at a later stage, said Debra Richardson spokesperson for the Resolute Support in Afghanistan.

About 14,000 US troops are present in Afghanistan, the Pentagon says.

Over 2,400 US forces have been killed in the 17-year-old war.

The US military’s mission is allegedly focused on guiding and aiding Afghan forces battling the Taliban, an attempt which has been of no fruit to day.

More than 2,400 U.S. forces have died in the 17-year-old war, America’s longest conflict.

17 years ago and after September 11 attacks US invaded Afghanistan, killing thousands of innocent people under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
