TEHRAN, November 19 - Iranian freestyler Kamran Ghasempour claimed a gold medal at the 2018 U23 World Championships in Bucharest, Romania on Sunday.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - He defeated Artur Naifonov from Russia 4-1 in the final match of the 86kg.
Iran also claimed three bronze medals in Day 2 of the competition.
Navid Zangeneh defeated Andranik Gabrielyan from Armenia 10-0 in the 74kg, Hossein Shahbazi beat Irakli Mtsituri from Georgia 4-2 in the 92kg and Amin defeated Poland’s Kamil Tomasz Kosciolek by technical fall.
Iran finished in third place with 105 points.
Russia claimed the title with 181 points while Georgia narrowly came runner-up with 108 points.
The 2018 World U-23 Wrestling Championship was the second edition of World U-23 Wrestling Championships of combined events, held from November 12 to 18 in Romania.
