Iranian Navy Fleet to leave for Italy in near future

TEHRAN, November 15 - Commander of Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said on Wednesday that an Iranian navy fleet will set sail for Italy in the near future.

Iranian Navy Fleet to leave for Italy in near futureTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - In a meeting with the Deputy Commander of the Italian Navy on the sidelines of a special meeting of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) in India, Khanzadi discussed a visit by an Iranian naval fleet to Italy in order to pave the way for more military cooperation.

Referring to presence of Italian flotilla in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abas where an Iranian naval unit is stationed, Khanzadi said Iran’s naval fleet will be sent to Italy in order for enhancement of military cooperation and exchange of experiences.

He further stressed the need for the two countries’ navies to exchange maritime capacities in all areas, saying this could be done by exchanging cadets and officers.

The Italian commander, for his part, said the Italian Navy is fully prepared to host the navy flotilla of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“We are always working to interact with other navy forces in the world, and as a powerful naval force at sea the Iranian navy can be very important to us and we announce our desire to have interactions with Iran in all areas,” he said.

Khanzadi participated in the 3-day special meeting of the IONS in India’s city of Kochi. It was attended by representatives from 32 countries.
